Fly Business Class with United Airlines

When it comes to the premium product of one of the US’ flag carriers, United Airlines, has just one type of Business Cabin for all their international/transcontinental flights. The United Polaris Product, introduced in 2016, offers a lie-flat seat on all their long-haul flights, and it guarantees aisle access for every passenger. It consistently offers one of the best experiences available in the industry, with the comfort and service levels being consistent across all flights. Flying United Airlines Polaris seat offers passengers a blend of luxury and comfort, with access to premium amenities and spacious seating, promising a high-quality experience.

United has 210 local destinations in the U.S. and 120 destinations internationally. They have 944 operating aircrafts and more than 700 ordered, with their fleet ranked at number 3 worldwide by the number of planes. Due to this fact, they are offering shorter travel times which is a crucial factor for many customers. Their hubs are Newark, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Dulles, Denver and Guam. Because of the strategic location of their hubs, they have an incredible access to all continents. The carrier is known for using narrow-body planes flying into secondary cities in Europe, such as Naples, Milan, Nice, Venice, Palma de Mallorca, Dubrovnik, Faro, Porto, Malaga, Edinburgh, and Shannon.

United Airlines is an affiliate of Star Alliance Network, therefore, members of any of its partner airlines can accrue and redeem miles on United Airlines flights. Some of the United Airlines' partners are Lufthansa, Air Canada, Brussels Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Turkish Airlines, Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Air India, Asiana Airlines, All Nippon Airways, Scandinavian Airlines and Eva Air. Their loyalty program is called United MileagePlus.

The carrier has around 50 business lounges spread worldwide, with the majority located in the US. In their hubs they have the United Polaris Lounge while the regular lounges are called United Club, with the main differences between them being that the Polaris Lounge has a full buffet, and pre-flight dining instead of light snacks. Also, the Polaris Lounge includes quiet suites where you can take a rest and showers. And of course, the design of the Polaris Lounge is more luxurious.

Airport Experience with United Airlines Business Class

In the case of traveling with a United business class ticket on a long-haul international flight, the airport experience starts with a quick and smooth check-in, followed by an invitation towards the lounge. If you are departing from one of the carriers hubs, like Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington D.C. or Newark, you will have lounge access to their exclusive United Polaris Lounge, which is considered to be better than any US or European competitor. The design is bright and modern, and there is a significant difference in materials when compared to the regular Club Lounge. The lounge can sometimes seem crowded when there are many transcontinental flights landing at similar times, however, due to the design and the size of the lounge, that is hardly an issue.

United Polaris lounges feature spa-like shower facilities, warm towels, daybeds with white noise machines, buffets, sit-down dining, fully-tended bars, and even Therabody products, to help you destress physically and mentally. Everything inside a United Polaris lounge is complimentary, even the sit-down meals and premium cocktails.

The second type of lounge that the carrier offers, is the Club Lounge. This lounge is available to United Club members, Star Alliance Gold members, passengers traveling in United Polaris business class or the carriers first class, or passengers who purchase a one-time pass. United Club typically offers light bites rather than premium food, and a considerably smaller choice of drinks. Most of the locations are spacious, making sure that you'll find a spot for yourself. However, it can get crowded at times, depending on flight schedules.

United Airlines Business Class Cabin & Seat

Flying with United Air Business Class ensures a superior travel experience, featuring lie-flat seats, gourmet dining, and exceptional service. Polaris is the airline’s flagship business class product, and all of its long-haul fleet has been retrofitted to offer it. Each seat has direct aisle access, which, at this point, should be the standard for most airlines. The cabin finishes drawing upon shades of grey with pops of United’s blue for a touch of color. Visually, the cabin has a crisp and sleek undertone with elevated touches, such as the faux-marble countertops on each console table.

The seat reclines to 180 degrees and features 75 to 78 inches of sleeping space. The width of the seat varies by aircraft and ranges from 20.5 inches to 22 inches. The seat selection is free of charge for all their premium travelers. The leather seats are equipped with built-in electrical outlets, armrest storage capable of accommodating books and laptops, and a holder for mobile devices. Passengers also benefit from an enlarged tray table, providing ample space for beverages, dining, and the flexibility to work or enjoy a movie simultaneously, guaranteeing that the experience and memories you'll be getting with their business class flight will be unforgettable.

United Airlines Business Class Cuisine

United provides you with great meal courses all around and with great selection that you can choose from. Usually, a meal features a salad, an entree, bread, and a small snack, like ice cream. The passengers get stainless steel silverware, cloth napkins, and glassware made of actual glass. Meals can be preorder if you're traveling in a premium cabin, a feature which is available between five days and 24 hours before the flight. There might also be exclusive menu items that are only available when you preorder.

The in-flight menu is very descriptive, with nice details of every meal included and the specifications about when the meal or snack is provided during different periods of the flight. The meal service starts with appetizers, with their staples being shrimp machboos, burrata, smoked Nordic salmon, tomato and mozzarella. For the entrée you can expect a selection of grilled beef tenderloin, roast turkey breast, halibut, red vegetable curry, pork schnitzel, lemongrass chicken, grilled salmon or butternut squash ravioli and a choice between Caesar salad or romaine lettuce salad. For desert you can find choices like ice-cream sundae or cherry coffee cake. The mid-flight snack features a selection of sweet and savory snacks, assorted fresh fruit baskets, grilled cheese toasties, sweet potato-coconut soup, sweet potato, roasted creamy tomato soup and others. And finally, before arrival, depending on the arrival hour, you might be server creamy scrambled eggs, horchata steel-cut oatmeal, beef burger or spiced tomato rigatoni pasta. Please keep in mind that the menu might change depending on the route, hours and other factors.

United Airlines Business Class Beverages

With the wide selection of hand-picked meals that business class on United airlines offers, you will also find yourself with a big array of possible beverages to choose from like still/sparkling water, sodas, beer, pre-mixed drinks. When it comes to red wines you can find items like LVE Signature Series North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon (2019/2021), Pike Road Pinot Noir (2022), Chateau Larose-Trintaudon Haut-Medoc (2019). For white wines the menu features choices like Chartron Trebuchet Chablis (2022), Nicolas Potel Bourgogne Aligote (2022), Whispering Angel Rose (2022).

United Airlines Business Class Amenities

When talking about amenities, one of the first things that comes to mind is the specialized amenity kit that the airline provides to all their premium travelers. The compact kit, designed by the company Therabody and Saks Fifth Avenue, includes eye serum, facial spray, hand cream, socks, ear plugs, and an eye mask to block out any unnecessary distractions. The business class seat is complemented by a larger entertainment screen and noise-reducing headphones. Lastly, for added comfort, all passengers will be provided with a duvet, a pillow and one extra cool gel pillow that helps with getting a more comfortable and refreshing night's sleep.
